Enter the world of barbering by applying for our program that’s designed to prepare you for a successful career after graduation! This 1250-hour program teaches students barber techniques, business skills and etiquette, how to prepare for the state licensing exam, and more.
Located in the Philadelphia metropolitan area, Premier Barber Institute focuses on helping students learn how to succeed in a professional barbershop setting. Our lessons are divided into sections to help students prepare for a career after graduation. We do this by first giving a lecture on each topic which is then followed by a practical demonstration. Afterward, students can perform these services themselves to give them practical experience. Throughout this whole process, our team of instructors will be there to offer advice, motivate, and answer questions.
Once students learn the basics of each technique, they’ll be able to perform these services on actual clients in our local student barbershop. All services will be performed under the direct supervision of licensed professionals so students can get real-time advice and support.
“Premier Barber Institute was one of the best experiences of my life… The encouragement and love that the staff display on a daily will make your life very easy”
-Kyle S.
The Barber Program is 1,250 hours, which can be completed in as little as 9 months. That’s less than a year standing between you and a licensed career in one of the most in-demand trades out there.
You can learn everything you need to run a chair like a professional. Such as haircutting, styling, straight razor techniques, hair coloring, facial massage, perms and straightening, scalp and skin disease identification, shop management, and more.
After learning each technique, you’ll perform those services on actual clients in our student barbershop, all under the supervision of licensed professionals who give you real-time feedback. By the time you graduate, you’ve already been behind the chair.
You need to maintain a 75% average in theory and a minimum score of 3 in practical and clinical work. Hit those marks and you’ll earn your certificate of completion and be cleared to take the Pennsylvania State Barber Board Exams.
A barber license can opens doors for you. You can work in an established shop, build your own clientele, open your own barbershop, or specialize as a hair colorist or wig stylist. The goal is to graduate with the skills and credentials to start earning and building something for yourself immediately.
Yes. Financial aid is available to students who qualify. Fill out your FAFSA, and our admissions team will walk you through the rest. Don’t let money be the reason you don’t make the move.
