Barber Crossover Program
WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?
This program is designed for licensed cosmetologists who want to learn specific barbering skills like men’s barbering, men’s styling, shaving, trending techniques and more. With their understanding of hair techniques, students in this program can graduate in fewer hours than compared to our barber program. With our curriculum, students can graduate from this program with 695 hours and in as little as six months.
What Can I Learn in the Program?
Located in the Philadelphia metropolitan area, Premier Barber Institute’s program focuses on helping licensed cosmetologists learn additional fading, barbering and men’s styling skills that are specific to shorter hairstyles and facial hair. Our program is divided into sections that each have theoretical and practical lessons to help students feel prepared for a career after graduation. During students’ education, our instructors will be there to offer advice on how to perform services, career options that are available in the barbering industry, and anything else related to a future career as a barber. After completion of our program, students can have the necessary amount of training hours required to sit for the Pennsylvania State Barbering exam.
Financial Aid
At Premier Barber Institute, we offer a variety of financial aid options to students who qualify. To get the process started, you need to fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid® (FAFSA) form. This will let you know what options there are and which could be available for you based on your financial situation. Get Practical Learning Experience
For each technique our students learn, they’ll have the opportunity to study it through both theoretical and practical lessons. This means that once students learn the basics of each technique, they’ll be able to perform these services on actual clients in our student barbershop. All services will be performed under the direct supervision of licensed professionals so students can get immediate advice and support from our instructors.

Barber Crossover Program FAQs
This program is built specifically for licensed cosmetologists who want to add a barber license to their credentials. You already have the foundation, this program fills in the gaps and gets you qualified to work both sides of the industry.
The Barber Crossover Program is 695 clock hours and can be completed in as little as 6 months. Because you’re already a licensed cosmetologist, the State of Pennsylvania credits you with 555 hours toward the standard 1,250-hour requirement.
Our program focuses on the skills that are specific to barbering. Such as straight razor shaving and technique, honing and stropping a conventional razor, men’s haircutting and styling, hairpieces, barbershop management, and Pennsylvania State Barber Laws and Regulations. These are the areas that separate a cosmetology license from a barber license, and this program covers all of them.
Both. Every technique is taught through theory first, then practical application. Once you’ve learned the fundamentals, you can perform those services on real clients in the student barbershop under the direct supervision of licensed professionals. By the time you’re done, you’ve already put in real reps behind the chair.
